Fig. 0 — an epiphany · Greg Spero · 2026

The heart is the fuel. The mind is the wings. The body is the vessel.

A concept, a paper, and a book about what actually moves a life — and what merely steers it.

Fig. 1 — general arrangement

Three parts, one machine

Painted plate: an aircraft engine rendered as a glowing ember heart
01 · Powerplant

The Heart

Fuel and fire. Love, longing, grief, anger, joy — the only forces that actually move you. Everything else is aerodynamics.

Painted plate: study of a wing with gold streamlines of air over it
02 · Wings

The Mind

Wings make nothing move. They turn motion into lift — direction, shape, judgment. Guidance for a fire that would otherwise just burn.

Painted plate: a wooden aircraft hull with visible ribs, like a cello body
03 · Airframe

The Body

The vessel. It carries the fire and the wings, sets the limits of every flight, and is the only aircraft you get.

Section IV — operating limitations

The flight manual

01

Wings make nothing move

A brilliant mind with no heart-fuel is a lawn ornament with perfect aerodynamics.

02

Thrust without wings is ballistics

Passion with no mind is a trajectory — an impressive arc and a guaranteed impact.

03

Every glide ends at the ground

Coasting on old passion is spending stored altitude. It feels like flying.

04

Stall recovery is nose down

Burnout is asking for more lift than your airspeed can give. Lower the aim. Regain energy. Then climb.

05

Lift has a fuel price

Even the right direction costs energy. Wisdom is drag management, not drag elimination.

06

Starved is not empty

Fuel that can't reach the engine looks exactly like an empty tank. Unblock before you refill.

07

Weight and balance decide the flight

What you carry — and where you carry it — sets what is possible.

08

Airworthiness is not vanity

The body is the only aircraft you get. Maintenance is the precondition of every flight.

09

Nothing flies standing still

You cannot steer a parked plane. Motion first, lift second.

10

Some flights are flown in cloud

When feel lies, trust the instruments. When the instruments fail, fly by feel. Mastery is knowing which night you're in.
